To assist immigrants, international students, and families who are unfamiliar with the U.S. health care system, HeartBridge Alliance plans to create a Bilingual Healthcare Resources page on the HBA website. The resources provided by this page include healthcare terms in both English and Chinese languages, communication tips, and education materials that would allow people to communicate confidently with their healthcare providers, insurance company, hospital, or pharmacy staff.
The bilingual English-Chinese health-care communication guide is intended to facilitate improved communication for patients, family members, volunteers, and health care professionals during their interactions within various health-care institutions. The guide features several symptoms, warning signals in case of emergencies, and phrases that will be helpful when meeting the doctor, being admitted into a hospital, visiting an urgent care facility, or visiting a pharmacist.
